SARAYA CONFIRMS DEPARTURE FROM AEW
After months away from the ring, Saraya has officially confirmed her departure from AEW. The former women's division champion revealed that she made this decision together with Tony Khan and that she now intends to explore new paths, both inside and outside of wrestling.
The English wrestler shared the news on her new podcast, highlighting that her time in AEW was an incredible experience, but that she felt there was no longer a story where she fit in.
"I'm here to tell you that my relationship with AEW has come to an end. I had an incredible time there. There are no hard feelings between us. It was a magical experience. I feel like I'm perhaps taking the place of someone who could be doing something really special."
Saraya later reinforced her departure in a post on X/Twitter, thanking AEW and president Tony Khan for the opportunity.
"It's mutual! But I loved my time in AEW and had a great time with the other wrestlers. It will always have a special place in my heart."
In an interview with Busted Open Radio, the former WWE wrestler revealed that she already knew that she would not renew her contract, which would end in September 2025, and that Tony Khan allowed her to leave months before the end of the contract.
"When I joined AEW, I wanted to help build something. I didn't want to be the main star or the face of the company, I wanted to elevate other wrestlers. I felt like I was reaching the end of that journey and that there was not much more I could ask for."
Saraya also mentioned that there was a possibility of feuding with Mercedes Moné, but that the wrestler was already involved in other storylines. In the end, the desire to step away from wrestling for a while weighed in on the decision.
"Tony [Khan] was amazing about it. It was a mutual decision. He's been totally supportive of me since I asked for a break in November."
Now, the former Paige is preparing for new challenges, including producing her podcast. With her future in Wrestling uncertain, it remains to be seen whether a possible return to WWE is in the cards.
