REY MISTERIO SR. PASSED AWAY AT AGE 66

Miguel Anger Lopez Diaz, known by Wrestling Tas as Rey Misterio Sr. and uncle of Rey Mysterio, has passed away at the age of 66. The sad news was announced by Mexican promoter AAA on Friday afternoon, with a tribute on social media:

"We mourn the sad passing of Miguel Ángel López Días, known as Rey Mysterio Sr. 

We send our sincere condolences to his loved ones and raise our prayers to heaven for his eternal rest".

Rey Misterio Sr. made his debut in the lucha libre ring in 1976, after initially training as a boxer. His last match took place on April 24, 2023, when he teamed up with Aero Star and Mr Iguana to face and defeat Hereje, Hijo de Pirata Morgan and Nightmare Azteca in a Trios Match at the Global Lucha Libre event. The veteran gave his nephew, Óscar Gutiérrez Rubio, his blessing to use his name, first as Rey Mysterio Jr., having stopped using "Jr" in WWE.
