REASON FOR RECENT WWE LAYOFFS REVEALED
In recent days, WWE has carried out a new wave of layoffs, involving wrestlers from NXT, Evolve, and the WWE ID program. Among those leaving the company are Wes Lee, Stevie Turner, Drako Knox, Jamar Hampton, Jin Tala, Haze Jameson, Summer Sorrell, and Brayden "BJ" Ray. Kylie Rae and Zayda Steel also opted not to renew their contracts.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the departures are not related to budget cuts. The main reason is performance and creative decisions. WWE conducts periodic evaluations of all talent in the developmental system, and those who don't demonstrate sufficient progress are eventually released.
The company currently has over 130 talents in its developmental system and continues to sign new talent. Therefore, according to insiders, it is common for some athletes to be released to make room for new talent the company wants to test and develop.
These changes reinforce WWE's focus on maintaining a competitive developmental roster, with wrestlers who show potential to join the main roster in the future.
