FAMOUS BOXER'S SON WILL JOIN WWE

An athlete with a famous combat sports father could become a future WWE Superstar. Four-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield competed in 57 professional fights during his career, achieving 44 victories, 29 of which were by knockout. Fighting from 1984 to 2011, Holyfield faced some of the greatest boxers of his era, including George Foreman, Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson, falling victim to Tyson's famous ear bite. According to a new report, the Holyfield name could appear in a different ring in the future.

As reported by PWInsider's Mike Johnson, Elijah Holyfield, Evander's son, will participate in the WWE tryouts taking place over SummerSlam weekend. Elijah Holyfield previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles football team and was also part of the Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals practice squads. This will be Holyfield's first attempt at the world of combat sports, as the American football player has never competed in amateur wrestling or boxing.

Evander Holyfield previously appeared on WWE TV as part of the 2007 feud between Matt Hardy and MVP. When Hardy challenged MVP to a boxing match on Saturday Night's Main Event, MVP was unable to compete and named the former world heavyweight champion as his replacement. The fight ended in a no contest when MVP taunted Holyfield and was knocked out.
