THE HEADBANGERS RETURN TO WWE
The Headbangers are once again part of the WWE. The former tag team champions have signed a new legendary deal with the company, news that Mosh himself, one of the team members, has confirmed. Various media have indicated that the deal is also closed with his partner Trasher.
Legendary contracts in WWE are a regular practice for the company. In general, contracts tend to have more flexible terms than active wrestlers, as they are not expected to compete as often or tour regularly. Some Legends have exclusive contracts with WWE, meaning they cannot appear on other wrestling events or television shows without the company's permission. Others have more flexible arrangements that allow them to work elsewhere, while still having to meet certain time constraints and promotional commitments.
The Headbangers are a duo formed by Mosh (Charles Warrington) and Thrasher (Glenn Ruth). The duo debuted in WWE in 1996 and were characterized by their eccentric appearance and chaotic fighting style, coinciding at one stage with other flamboyant wrestlers and teams associated with pop culture at the time.
During their time in WWE, the Headbangers were notable for their rivalry with other teams such as The Godwinns and The New Age Outlaws, and also participated in several tag team competitions, including Survivor Series. In 1999, they left WWE and began working for other wrestling promotions, including Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). The duo returned to WWE in 2016 to compete in the opening SmackDown Tag Team Championship tournament.
