THE NEW WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
WWE has clarified the lineage of the newly introduced WWE Women's Championship, currently held by Asuka. Contrary to speculations about the title starting a new lineage, namely with Asuka as the first champion, WWE.com confirmed that the new title continues the lineage of the RAW Women's Championship.
This decision mirrors the approach taken with the new World Heavyweight Championship, which started a new lineage with Seth Rollins as its first champion.
Asuka is scheduled to defend the WWE Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair in London in three weeks. The status of the SmackDown Women's Championship, held by Rhea Ripley, has yet to be addressed.
