AEW DYNAMITE HAS A HUGE DROP IN AUDIENCE

Empty seats were everywhere at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana on the January 31 episode of AEW Dynamite. The venue's capacity is 8,933, but only 2,236 tickets were distributed for the show. Data from WrestleTix, which showed large sections of the arena becoming unoccupied. The last time All Elite Wrestling held a show at the venue was the April 13, 2022 episode of Dynamite.

This edition had 3,655 tickets distributed. In total, ticket sales decreased by 38.9% for the January 31 episode compared to the last show in the promotion. Matches featured on Dynamite included Jon Moxley vs. Jeff Hardy, Swerve Strickland vs. Rob Van Dam, Deonna Purrazzo vs. Taya Valkyrie, Chris Jericho vs. Kyle Fletcher and Hangman Page vs. Toa Liona.

Then WrestleTix noted that the January 31st episode of Dynamite narrowly escaped becoming AEW's least attended Dynamite outside of Daily's Place during the COVID-19 pandemic. The January 17th episode of Dynamite in North Charleston, South Carolina had just 2,220 tickets given away. Finally, AEW is looking to resolve its difficulties with live events by holding fewer events in smaller markets in the future. This comes after the appointment of Kosha Irby as COO of AEW. Therefore, he will seek to improve AEW's presence after the departure of AEW's Chief Marketing Officer, Rafael Morffi.
