WWE CONFIRMS DEATH OF MICHAEL JONES "VIRGIL"

Mike Jones, better known in the world of Wrestling as Virgil in WWE, passed away at the age of 61, after some health problems.

Virgil has suffered two strokes in recent years, and has suffered from early-stage dementia since 2022. The death of the former WWE and WCW star was announced this Wednesday by referee Mark Charles, on Facebook:

"My dear friends, it is with great sadness that I bring the Jones family news of the passing of our beloved Michael Jones, whom we knew and loved as Virgil, Vincent, Soul Train Jones and more. VirgĂ­lio passed away peacefully in the hospital this morning, and I ask that you pray for him and his family. May your memory be eternal!"

The death has also been confirmed through Virgil's own social media, where it was written:

"This is to confirm the sad news that our beloved "Meatsauce God" and Wrestling Superstar Virgil/Michael Jones has passed away. There is so much to say here and I would love to share stories, but for now it is a difficult day as our friend is gone. We only ask at this moment to remember him as the man he was. Wishing you all the unlimited mass in the sky. We love you Mike."

Virgil began his wrestling career in 1985, and is a former AWA Southern Tag Team Champion alongside Rocky Johnson. He even won the Million Dollar Championship from Ted DiBiase in WWE.

He was also part of WCW while Vincent, and was a member of the nWo. More recently, he appeared in AEW a few times, in association with Chris Jericho.
