WWE AND VINCE MCMAHON ARE BEING SUED

Former WWE writer Britney Abrahams has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York against WWE, Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and other company executives, alleging that she was discriminated against and fired for being oppose "offensively racist and stereotyped jargon" in screenplays for black stars.

Abrahams explains that, after denouncing her, the defendants increased the intensity of their discriminatory conduct, including deliberately subjecting her to a series of racist propositions. One of those proposals that worried her was with Reggie, with the idea of dressing him in full drag “with a wig and tights” to partner with Carmella in fights in the women’s division.

However, Andrea Listenberger, who worked on the creative team, pointed out the negative nature of the idea, seeing a heterosexual black man in drag could perpetuate harmful stereotypes that would offend viewers, so WWE scrapped the idea. It should be noted that pitch would not have been WWE's first cross-dressing character in modern times, as Santino Marella played his "sister" Santina for a period of time in 2009.
