INTERGENDER FIGHTS IN WWE ARE AN EVOLUTION?
Current Royal Rumble winner and Judgment Day member Rhea Ripley recently reflected on the evolution of intergender wrestling in WWE during an interview with Checkpoint.
The former RAW Women's Champion expressed her appreciation for the development of the women's division, saying that she never thought women would be able to compete in the main event of WrestleMania. Ripley cited her match against Akira Tozawa on RAW in December as an example of women breaking barriers.
While there aren't many intergender matches in WWE, Ripley has competed against male stars before. WWE has not entirely abandoned the practice, with female stars such as Beth Phoenix, Chyna, Nia Jax and Kharma involved in the Royal Rumble.
