REY MYSTERIO INDUCTEE HALL OF FAME 2023

During this Friday's SmackDown, WWE announced that Rey Mysterio is the first name to be inducted into the Hall of Fame's Class of 2023.

Anticipation has been building for a few weeks around the names that would be inducted into this year's ceremony, but few fans would expect WWE to choose to induct a wrestler while still active.

The announcement was made during the blue brand show and Rey Mysterio was then introduced to fans for an in-ring promo segment, receiving chants of "Tu deserved!" by the WWE Universe.

Dominik Mysterio and the remaining members of Judgment Day still tried to spoil Rey Mysterio's moment, but he prevailed, even after a Six-Man Tag Team Match in which the group faced Legado del Fantasma.

The young man showed his dislike for his father entering the WWE Hall of Fame at the expense of his birthdays and special dates that he missed, saying he was ashamed of being his son and that he would rather be Eddie Guerrero's.

Either way, it's official: Rey Mysterio is the first name of the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame, and will be inducted at the ceremony on March 31st. Backstage, the fighter commented on the feat, showing gratitude and honor.

At 48 years of age, the "Master of 619" has had an enviable career in WWE, filled with titles and achievements, and is considered the best fighter in history. Rey Mysterio is WWE Champion, WWE World Heavyweight Champion, WWE Cruiserweight Champion, WWE Intercontinental Champion, WWE United States Champion, Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Champion, and winner Royal Rumble.

Outside of WWE, the legend also won several titles in WCW, Lucha Underground, AAA, among other promoters he went through.
